It is projected that over the next 20 years, an additional 460,000 pilots will be in high demand throughout the world’s airline industry. This is why our commercial pilot training arm – ST Aerospace Academy (STAA) – is stepping up its game to capture a bigger slice of this market.
Certainly, STAA is on track. Partnering Tiger Airways, with support from CAAS, it had in September 2011 successfully completed Singapore’s first Multi-crew Pilot Licence (MPL) programme. The STAA MPL curriculum stands out by putting cadet pilots into the Airbus A320 simulator environment right from the start of phase two training. This maximises not only the students’ exposure to flying in a multi-crew environment but also the cockpit environment of the aircraft that they will eventually work in.
